High School Internship Program
The High School Internship Program at IF Afterschool is a pathway designed to help students grow from interns into confident, capable emerging leaders. Grounded in our core values—Imagination, Mentorship, Opportunity, Growth, Empathy, and Nurturing—this program emphasizes progress over perfection and supports students as they learn what it means to be part of a professional, caring community. Interns are not expected to arrive as experts; instead, they are guided through real experiences where they build responsibility, communication skills, and teamwork while contributing meaningfully to the daily life of the program. Students are mentored, encouraged to reflect on their growth, and supported in becoming leaders who create safe, engaging, and nurturing spaces for others.
Mentorship – creating an learning environment beyond the job
This program is more than job training—it is a journey of transformation. Students learn to show up for themselves and their community, build confidence through practice, and understand the impact they have on others. Many leave the program not only with skills for future jobs and college but also with strong relationships, references, and a lasting sense of purpose and belonging.
